Today, the Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (YCVVT) attended the panel discussion held in Geneva on the sidelines of the 60th session of the Human Rights Council to review the 13th periodic report and the latest updates on the human rights situation in Yemen issued by the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights.
In the panel discussion, Judge Ahmed Al-Muflihi, Chairperson of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights, highlighted in his opening, the key developments in Yemen’s human rights file covered by the report, emphasizing the most significant findings of the Commission’s work.
Then, Members of the National Commission to Investigate Alleged Violations of Human Rights presented statistics and data from the report, outlining the main areas of investigation and the outcomes of field monitoring visits conducted in several governorates, despite ongoing humanitarian and security challenges.
For his part, the Yemeni Center Chief Sheikh Gamal Al-Maamari delivered a brief statement outlining the conditions of the abductees and forcibly disappeared individuals in Houthis’ jails, and touched on the crime committed yesterday by the guards of Houthi’s Security and Intelligence prison through heavily firing at the abductees, which resulted in killing and injuring many of them. The Yemeni Center Chief held the Houthi militia fully responsible for the lives of all detainees.
