Erada Organization for Combating Torture and Enforced Disappearance held a meeting at the Palace of Nations in Geneva—in cooperation with the Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture “Will and Hope”—with a team from the Permanent Mission of the United Kingdom to the United Nations and International Organizations, to discuss human rights, humanitarian, and field developments in Yemen.

The Erada Organization, in cooperation with the Yemeni Center, provided a briefing on the recent Houthi military escalation in Taiz and Hodeidah (including the use of heavy weapons and taking control of large parts of the coastline reaching Dhubab, which resulted in civilian casualties, widespread displacement, forced eviction, and property damage), in addition to targeting IDP camps in Marib with ballistic missiles and drones, which caused the deaths of several children in Raghwan.

The Erada Organization also handed Ms. Rhiannon at the British Mission three human rights reports and an introductory brochure. These included testimonies and data on arbitrary detention, enforced disappearance, torture, forced displacement, child recruitment, landmine planting, house demolitions, and Houthi collusion with terrorist groups.

Furthermore, the Erada Organization for Combating Torture and Enforced Disappearance highlighted ongoing Houthi violations against civilians and workers with international and UN organizations, including arbitrary detention, torture, enforced disappearance, and the obstruction and looting of humanitarian aid, warning of the deteriorating conditions of detainees and the deaths of several among them in custody.

In addition, the Erada Organization, in cooperation with the Yemeni Center, documented grave violations in the areas of Mokha, Hays, Al-Kadhah, and coastal regions adjacent to Bab al-Mandab. These included targeting civilians, destroying facilities and properties, and forcibly displacing residents. The organization warned of the ramifications of Houthi escalation aimed at closing Bab al-Mandab to international trade and supplies—to appease and serve as mercenaries for Iran—and the resulting consequences for human and food security, as well as regional and international stability.

Erada, in cooperation with the Yemeni Center, reaffirmed its commitment to continue monitoring and documenting violations, preserving evidence, and preparing legal and human rights files. It called for the release of detainees and abductees, revealing the fate of the forcibly disappeared, ending child recruitment, and guaranteeing victims’ rights to truth, justice, and redress.

The Erada Organization stressed that any future peace process must place human rights and the rights of victims among its top priorities, along with conducting independent and impartial investigations, holding those responsible for violations accountable, and ensuring no impunity.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the Erada Organization renewed its commitment, in cooperation with the Yemeni Center, to continue monitoring, documenting, and protecting victims’ rights. It emphasized working according to human rights methodologies and enhancing communication and cooperation with UN mechanisms, diplomatic missions, and international human rights organizations, thereby helping convey victims’ voices, preserve evidence, and support accountability, justice, and combating impunity.
