Geneva – Switzerland

As part of its international human rights advocacy, the President of the Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture met with the Permanent Mission of Belgium to the Human Rights Council at the United Nations Palace in Geneva. This meeting took place on the sidelines of the 61st session of the UN Human Rights Council.

The Center submitted a detailed and documented report to Mr. Gino Brunswijck, First Secretary of the Belgian Mission. The report monitors the landscape of gross violations in Yemen, including:

  • Enforced Disappearances: Precise data regarding individuals who have been missing for years.

  • Secret Prisons: Documentation of illegal detention sites that lack basic humanitarian standards.

  • Psychological Impact: A record of the catastrophic consequences of systematic torture on victims and their families.

The Yemeni Center emphasized that “the crimes of the Houthi militia do not fall under the statute of limitations,” stressing that the Center remains committed to documenting these cases for submission to international justice to ensure that perpetrators do not escape accountability.
