The Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (Will and Hope) strongly condemns in the highest terms the Houthi militia’s bombing today, Wednesday, October 7, 2026, of the house of Sheikh Ibrahim Ahmad Al-Maqrami, leader of the Ash-Shamayatayn resistance in Taiz Governorate, in a dangerous retaliatory act that comes just one day after the militia killed him.

The Yemeni Center emphasizes that the Houthi militia’s blowing up of Sheikh Al-Maqrami’s house after killing him represents a dangerous continuation of retaliatory acts and the targeting of civilian homes and property. It reveals an approach that does not stop at targeting individuals, but extends to their homes, property, and families.

The Center condemns this act in the strongest terms and affirms that blowing up homes and destroying civilian property without military necessity constitutes a grave violation of the rules of international humanitarian law. It warrants investigation, accountability, and the prosecution of those responsible, ensuring they are not allowed to escape impunity.

The Yemeni Center calls on the international community, the United Nations, and relevant international human rights mechanisms to take serious steps to hold Houthi militia leaders and those responsible for these violations accountable, and to support international legal accountability processes for crimes and violations committed against civilians in Yemen.

The Yemeni Center also calls on the Yemeni government and competent authorities to monitor and document all cases of house demolitions, killings, and targeting of civilians and property, preserve related evidence, and work to prosecute perpetrators and bring them to justice.

The Yemeni Center holds the Yemeni government and legitimate authorities responsible for taking all possible measures to protect citizens and their property, defend the rights of victims and their families, and work earnestly to ensure that perpetrators of these violations do not go unpunished.

The Yemeni Center renews its call to end the policy of house demolitions and retaliatory acts, and to guarantee accountability and justice for victims, reiterating that grave crimes and violations should not be subject to a statute of limitations, and that their perpetrators must be held accountable in accordance with the law.
