The Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (Will and Hope) has followed with profound shock and strong condemnation the horrific details of the heinous crime whose perpetrator was stripped of all meanings of humanity, mercy, and fatherhood, in which the so-called Abdulsalam Ahmed Hatem Al-Hasani ended the life of his innocent 13-year-old daughter in cold blood and a brutal manner in the village of Al-Aqra’a in the Al-Jabin district.
According to the available information, the perpetrator threw his child into a walled well inside his private, enclosed farm, following a series of psychological and physical abuses that included cruelly depriving her of visiting her separated mother and preventing her from attending a family occasion.
The perpetrator was not satisfied with his flagrant crime, but also attempted to evade responsibility for his crime and mislead justice by arbitrarily throwing the accusation at the villagers.
We at the Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (Will and Hope) believe that this heinous crime was not born of the moment, but is rather a natural and tragic product of a long series of violations practiced by the Houthi militia, ranging from the suppression of freedoms, the killing of childhood and humanity, and blatant human rights violations, amidst a complete absence of any legal or humanitarian protection. This is what made this child a hostage to her father’s tyranny, paying the price with her blood and her life. The violations practiced by the Houthi militia serve as a fertile environment for producing more victims.
We will not rest until justice is served for this innocent child and everyone involved in her suffering and death is held accountable.
