The Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (Will and Hope) condemns in the strongest terms the heinous terrorist crime committed by the terrorist Houthi militia against citizen Ahmed Saleh Muthanna Al-Ghazali (55 years old), which reflects the ugliest forms of programmed bloodiness and brutality against defenseless civilians in the areas under its control.

In the details of this tragic crime that embodies the extent of this militia’s arrogance and barbarism, elements of Houthi criminality proceeded on Thursday (July 23, 2026) to besiege the home of citizen Al-Ghazali in the village of “Rowhan” in the Al-Sha’ir district, east of Ibb governorate. This was due to his refusal to comply with their invalid dictates and surrender himself to the Houthi armed campaign.

With the victim’s refusal to surrender himself, the militia elements showered his house with a heavy barrage of gunfire. The shooting resulted in striking and exploding a domestic gas cylinder, which led to the collapse of the house and caused damage and injuries to the Houthi elements themselves as a result of their action.

The militia did not stop at destroying the house and displacing the family; rather, it continued firing intensely at the victim until it shot him dead in cold blood, leaving behind the rubble of a home and a grieving, displaced family amidst escalating popular anger and indignation in the governorate.

In a behavior lacking the slightest human and moral values, as well as tribal and religious customs, the Houthi militia persisted in its transgression by categorically refusing to hand over the body of the treacherously killed martyr to his relatives for burial, kidnapping the body and mutilating it in a flagrant violation of the sanctity of the dead.

Furthermore, the militia exercises despicable pressure and blatant extortion against the region’s dignitaries and notables to impose financial sums, in an attempt to legitimize their crimes and cover up their scandals. Faced with these atrocities, the Yemeni Center affirms that this horrific crime amounts to crimes against humanity, extrajudicial premeditated murder, and the mutilation of corpses. It is an extension of a dark and escalating record of grave violations committed by the Houthi militia against civilians in Ibb governorate in general.

The Yemeni Center (Will and Hope) holds the leadership of the terrorist Houthi militia fully criminally and legally responsible for this heinous liquidation and the subsequent kidnapping of the body and extortion of the residents.

The Yemeni Center asserts that these heinous crimes will not be subject to a statute of limitations, and that the escalating state of popular indignation in Ibb governorate is the coming volcano that will break the siege of Houthi militia terrorism.

The Yemeni Center concludes its statement by calling on the United Nations, the UN Envoy to Yemen, and all local and international human rights organizations to clearly condemn these terrorist crimes. It calls for immediate pressure on the Houthi militia for the immediate release of the victim’s body, unconditional compensation for his family for the violations they have suffered, and a halt to all horrific violations and crimes against the people of Ibb governorate and the areas under their control.
