The Yemeni Center for the Rehabilitation of Victims of Violations and Torture (Will and Hope) condemns in the strongest terms the bombardment executed by the Houthi militia using a ballistic missile and projectiles that targeted an internally displaced persons (IDP) camp in Raghwan district, Marib governorate, yesterday, Monday, September 7, 2026. The shelling targeted an IDP camp in the Asdas area of Raghwan district, north of Marib governorate, resulting, according to incoming information, in the martyrdom of two children (a boy and a girl) and the injury of 15 civilians, including 8 children, in addition to the destruction and damage of several homes and vehicles, in a crime that struck civilians already living in harsh humanitarian conditions—suffering caused by the Houthis for years up to the present.

Targeting an IDP camp and the resulting killing and injury of children and civilians represents a serious violation of the rules of international humanitarian law, which mandate the protection of the civilian population and displaced persons, and prohibit directing attacks against them or against civilian objects. As this shelling was deliberate, it necessitates an independent and transparent investigation to ensure that impunity is not permitted.

The Yemeni Center demands that relevant authorities and human rights and humanitarian bodies open an urgent and independent investigation into the circumstances of the bombardment, document the casualties and damages, preserve evidence, ensure that the injured—particularly children—receive necessary medical care, and secure shelter and protection for families who lost their homes or were affected by the attack.

The Yemeni Center also calls on the international community and humanitarian and human rights organizations to assume their responsibilities toward civilians and IDPs in Marib governorate, and to take serious measures to guarantee their protection, emphasizing that killing children and targeting shelters for displaced persons cannot be treated as a passing incident, but must be subject to full legal accountability.

The protection of civilians is neither an option nor a favor; rather, the terrorist Houthi militia must adhere to humanitarian law. Any violation of this obligation must be met with investigation, accountability, and redress for victims, ensuring their right to justice and putting an end to impunity.
